My garden is still producing from spring planting. The gourds are turning, and I haven't taken the rest off the vine because of the tomatoes. You can see the mix below - gourd and new romas.
The hot chili peppers have been doing really well, and there are more coming! I bought the seed at the Dollar Tree just to try, and it was a good purchase. 4 packs for $1 - great deal for trying different seeds. They carry name brand seeds, but you only get a few seeds in the pack - like 8-10 seeds instead of 50+. Works for me! I started the plants during the winter, and it seemed to take a long time just for the seeds to sprout. After planting, it seemed to take a long time to see any sign of growth, and then of flowers. I kept in mind that it's in part-shade. Then one month, there were peppers, and more peppers, and still they are producing! These are Steve's favorites, so I'm looking to preserve most of them.
I've let the okra stay on the plant to get large and hard. I read you can let them stay until ready to remove for the seeds, but I really have to remove the plants for fall planting. We've had rain, I was out of town, family came to visit, and then of course, normal work to do, so my garden maintenance got moved to this week. Rain again today, so it looks like end of the week for me to do anything in the garden. Hope I can get out there, still a lot to do!
