I travel to Colonial Williamsburg to find inspiration for primitive design. Here at the Everard House, I found oak baskets and a rope bed ~ both used in primitive décor. These two baskets are great examples of equipment needed to do a day’s work on a Virginian farm during this period. The basketmakers at Colonial Williamsburg will tell you that everyone on the farm had a hand at making baskets, and it was a welcome relief from the chores out in the field. I’m going to try my hand at some larger baskets like these.
