These rare gourds at Colonial Williamsburg are so unique. I was early to the garden and didn’t see the gardener, so next time I’d like to ask how these gourds were used during the colonial period. I thought it was a nice touch to sit the gourds on pots. It not only keeps them off the ground, but gives an interesting flow through the gourd patch. If these gourds were already cured and cleaned, they would be great for outdoor lighting, and the roundness makes them look like pumpkins. I’m sure The Colonial Nursery sells the seed packs, so next year, I’m thinking to plant some of these basket gourds!
