I enjoy weaving baskets. They are not only beautiful, but they are very useful in the primitive home. I use them for breads, in the garden to collect my vegetables, to carry things from place to place, and to store my craft supplies! Some are just great for decorating, for the beauty of the weave, and for the natural accent it brings to the room. Right now, I make all my baskets out of reed, but if I could find a place to get young oak trees, I'd be making oak baskets! In the fall, I collect black walnuts and use the hulls for staining, and I also use MinWax stains. Sometimes, I paint the outside of the basket giving it a really unique finish.
